its not that hard to do but you do need a bit of skills to do a good job,you can find a video on the net on how to do it but remember you will need to put down baseboard and 1/4 round again when you are done
Absolutely. I put laminate in three rooms and my hallway, and the only saw I needed was a saber saw. When you go to pick some flooring out, just have the store employees show you how it snaps together, no nails or glue. Also ask them how much space you need to leave next to the walls; it’s usually 1/8 – 1/4″.
You have to first put down an underlayment, which is kind of like a padded, plastic sheet. It usually comes in rolls, and you just lay down a roll, cut the end and do the next one.
Then you can start laying the flooring, snapping them together. 90% of your cuts will be on the ends next to the wall, so they don’t even need to be super straight. They will be covered by trim.
You may need a hammer to lightly tap some pieces together. Just use a scrap piece of flooring as protection for the new stuff. I also needed to use a prybar for some of the ends where I couldn’t hammer. I just used it to push the flooring into place here and there.
Once the floor is all down and together, you install either baseboard if you didn’t have any before, or shoe molding to cover the edges.
Bamboo flooring is JUNK. If you have pets go with regular hard wood floors. Pets will ruin laminate flooring. Go out and buy a “How To” book that will give you step by step instruction or a video at your local lumber yard.
Yes you should be able to install it.
“Charlie” has the right idea.
The edge gap is necessary to allow for expansion and contraction, and a flexible filler strip is placed between the edge timbers and the wall, to allow this. If possible, remove any skirting boards, and replace them higher when the floor is down. This will avoid having to add another wood beading above the flooring.
Set the depth of cut on your skilsaw shallow to avoid shattering the edges of the cut, or just use a tenon saw.
For correct appearance, don’t run the boards parallel to the doorway. They should run away from the door.
You should be able find an aluminium or brass cover strip that will hide the edge across the doorway and preserve the expansion space.
go to DIY channel website or lumber liquidators….if you put it on concrete it is easy….just need s good saw to trim odd
